Surgee Ranking is a revealing and masterful singer/songwriter of rare
depth and originality. His refreshing and inspirational vocal and lyrical
delivery, will bring back memories of those unforgettable moments of
listening pleasure.
Surgee began his singing career at the young age of 10 at the Underground
Workshop which produced art and drama shows. Encouraged to participate
in the "Partime" entertainment competition in Trinidad, Surgee
won Best Own Composition. Surgee’s notoriety grew quickly and he
was soon known for his unique sounds and thought provoking lyrics. When
you hear Surgee, you hear the sound of the tenor pan ramajin in your
ear.
Surgee Ranking is better know as Surgee B. The Trinidadian native spent
his childhood under the skies of Santa Cruz Hill, a lush, tropical, mountainous
area also known for its many natural springs. It was this beautiful surrounding
and the great love of his mother, Brenda, that inspired his original
sound from this early age.

In later years, Surgee got involved with De Bosses, a music group featuring
artists Jazzy Banton, Lovington, Renie Dan and Bomber. As the members
of the De Bosses set out for different paths, Surgee took a temporary
hiatus from music to worked as a chef for Celebrity Cruise. Three years
passed before he returned to writing and performing, initially in New
York, and then in Boston where he currently resides.
In early 2005, Surgee released his first single, “Never Miss the
Water” recorded with TG Records. The track became the most requested
song on Boston’s #1 Caribbean radio station. This was the catalyst
for his nomination as the Best Caribbean Male artist at New England’s
1st Annual Urban Music Awards. The talented singer won the category and
with the Shashamani Band, performed live before the huge crowd at the
Berklee Performance Center.
Currently Surgee is signed to Big Life Entertainment, a record label
that he co-owns with Black Moses Production.
