Paul "P-Funk" Mauras was born
in Revere, Massachusetts. He has been a veteran of the Boston music
scene for the past 20 years. Having played bass and guitar in many
of the great staples on the local club circuit including Harper's
Ferry, House of Blues, the Cantab, the Rathskellar, the Channel,
Bunratty's, the Middle East, Mama Kin's Music Hall, as well as
numerous gigs in neighborhood bars and clubs through New England
and New York.
He has performed a vast number of gigs as a band leader, and/or
back-up musician. Some artists he has performed with or backed
are Luther "Guitar Jr." Johnson, Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Weeping
Willie, Delaware Floyd, "Earring" George Mayweather, Little Joe
Cook & the Thrillers, Silas Jr. & the Hot Ribs Band, Chris "Stovall"
Brown, Mother Nature & the Elements, The Stealth Band, Aim for
Love, The 52nd Street Band, as well as leading his own soul/funk/blues
bands the Jam Syndicate and the Soul Prophets.
Paul is a prolific songwriter and is versed in many cultural musical
styles such as blues, funk, jazz, reggae, rock, soul, pop, gospel,
folk, hip-hop, latin and other ethnic styles. He has a 6 song
ep titled "Prozac Frape", a collection that emphasizes his diversity
in sound, which will soon be available for distribution through
CDBaby.com.
At present, Paul is in pre-production with Good Life Entertainment
of Roxbury, MA. He is working with DJ Val Beatz recording 25 new
compositions. The fruits of these sessions will be laboriously
shoped to all major and independent record labels. The spiritual
content of Paul's performances come through on the stage and in
the studio. There is a vibe of community in his playing. When you
hear it, you willknow you heard the real deal, one of Boston's
