A Native of Boston, MA, Lori is ready to take her rightful place
as a truly talented vocalist. She reminds you what love is all
about. Lori’s music elevates feelings-lets you remember,
feel, hope for what's ahead and live powerfully in the moment.
Lori got her initial introduction and training in singing in the
same tradition as many great vocalists before her – in the
Church. Lori was 9 years old at the time and soon realized the
gift that God had given to her and has never looked back. Lori's
gift- a voice that emerges sweetly, landed lightly and touching
the soul gently- reverberates much like the graceful notes of a
soprano saxophone.
Lori decided to hone her gift
and sought professional training from the renowned vocal trainer,
the late, Madame Jacqueline Bazinet Corbet, while attending The
University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. She has spent two decades
developing and nurturing her soulful style and fine tuning her
instrument." Fellow musicians say
that Lori floats in and out of songs like a bird, swaying between
smooth and sultry and strong and colorful. She gets to the heart
of what a song is about. She makes people feel what she feels.
From genre to genre, she gets it right.
Lori's musical influences
include vocalist Yolanda Adams, Teena Marie, CeCe Winans, Chaka
Khan and Whitney Houston, just to name a few. She has opened for
artists such as jazz legend, Jean Carne, R&B great, Regina
Belle and Orpheus/MCI recording artist, Andre Ward and recently
shared the stage with gospel Icon and BET'S own Dr. Bobby Jones.
You can also find Lori’s name in most of the entertainment
venues in Boston; performing with several Boston based bands and
her own band – Lori
Dow and Friends. She has appeared on several local recordings that
include Brown-Jackson, Live at Slade's and The ZMQ’s latest
CD, Funky Stuff. She has

performed
with the esteemed Boston Pop's Orchestra under the direction of
Maestro Charles Floyd and with a 200 voice choir as a part of the
New England Conservatory Gospel Jubilee along with gospel greats,
Kirk Carr, Richard Smallwood, Alvin Slaughter and Donald Lawrence.
Anyone can see that Lori's career is soaring to success. In September of 2005,
Lori released her debut CD entitled “Unconditionally Yours” which
includes the title song as well as You Used to Love Me featuring singer/songwriter,
Terry Gresham and I Wanna Know You Again, plus other musical compositions that
will touch your heart and soul. In April 2006, Lori was awarded Best Female Jazz
Vocalist at New England's First Annual Urban Music Awards. She has a music ministry
at her church, Eliot Church of Roxbury, and plans to release her next CD as a
gospel/R&B continuation of "Unconditionally Yours." Lori has also
recently opened her own production company, Lori Dow Productions, which allows
her to keep the rights to her own releases and possibly work with other artists
in the not so distant future.
Education is also a passion of Lori's. Though her schedule
has been very busy, she has managed to balance all this with
her professional career in the Upper School Admissions Office
at Milton Academy.
Lori blends R&B, jazz and contemporary gospel stylings
to create a subtle sound that is reminiscent of a time when careful
training and ability correlated more closely with critical acclaim. Her
vocal performances exemplify her range and ability to move effortlessly
from a jazz standard to a contemporary gospel piece and everything
else in between. Along the journey, Lori's music moves you.
